Repair Festival

The fourth Viljandi Repair Festival took place on September 20, 2025. The aim of the event was to promote the principles of sustainable consumption: do not throw away a worn or broken item lightly, but extend its life by maintaining, repairing or reusing it! In and around the Vilma Academic Building of the Cultural Academy, it was possible to participate in various workshops that offered new skills for nurturing a beloved but worn or broken item.

I had the pleasure of leading a sashiko workshop, where participants could decoratively repair and strengthen their favorite, torn or worn-out clothes using the traditional Japanese embroidery technique. Sashiko enthusiasts continued to show up from the opening of the festival until the very end. A big thank you to everyone who participated in my workshop or just stopped by and had a look. It was a great pleasure!

The next repair festival will take place on September 19, 2026.
