Pakri Cotton Jacket Sewing Summer Course 3 days from Friday to Sunday, July 2-4, 2027 in Väike-Pakri
The romance of Pakri is calling! Small and Large Pakri, a tour in a tractor box, and most of all, sewing jackets together await.
Over the course of three days, each participant will complete a Pakri cotton jacket. The jacket to be sewn is based on the only Pakri cotton jacket collected in the museum (HMK _ 9458 AJ 3451). The jacket comes from the island of Väike-Pakri and is located in the Harju County Museum. The jacket can be worn with Pakri folk costumes from the late 19th century or as part of modern clothing.
Estonian Swedes (coastal Swedes) had lived on the Pakri Islands since the 13th century. They had brought with them their own language and culture, which differed significantly from the local customs. During the war, most of the Pakri people evacuated to Sweden, where they tried to preserve their traditions.
