It is a great pleasure to present a course on the beautiful and delicate Irish crochet with a long history 🤍
Irish crochet is a magnificent and delicate crochet lace consisting of embossed motives, which originated in Ireland in the mid-19th century. Crocheting Irish lace is time-consuming, a delicate work, but it pays off a thousand times more in beautiful and eye-catching lace tops, dresses, bags and decorations.
At the beginning of the course we will find out which crochet threads and needles are suitable for crocheting different parts of irish lace. We will crochet different Irish crochet motives and learn to connect them using auxiliary fabric. We will also learn how to finish the edges. All course participants will recieve written instructions and patterns. Participants may bring their own magnifying glass to the course if they wish.
The course instructor has completed her training in Irish crochet in 2023 at the Irish Crochet Summer School in Clones, Ireland. Course participants will have the opportunity to see historical examples of Irish crochet brought from Ireland and learn more about its fascinating history.
The Irish Crochet course lasts 24 academic hours. We will meet six times (4 academic hours each).
