September 8, 2026 at the Harju County Heritage Centre
Register for the course through the Harju County Heritage Center: harjumaaparimuskeskus@gmail.com.
The course teaches decorative patching and embellishment of clothing using the traditional Japanese embroidery technique of sashiko. Sashiko has historically been used to join multiple layers of fabric or to secure a patch. Sashiko embroidery creates geometric ornaments with a repeating pattern using a simple pre-stitch.
You will need to bring to the course an item of clothing with holes, worn areas, stains, or that simply needs updating, pieces of fabric of your choice to repair and decorate it, and cotton embroidery thread.
The sashiko course lasts 4 academic hours. Those registered for the course will recieve information about the materials needed by e-mail.
